Lillie's Bedroom!

Although there will still be things to do to Lillie's room once she gets home (figuring out what her favorite toys are and putting them within her reach, etc.) her bedroom is now officiallly ready! I added a toybox/bench that I repainted... a treasure passed to Lillie from my friend Sydney, who is now too old to need it! I have also added the BEAUTIFUL quilt that my cousin Ashley made for Lillie. She mailed it to me to make sure it was on the bed before Lillie arrived and it looks perfect. Amazingly enough, Ashley has not see the room in person but worked from pictures and descriptions I sent. This is a gift from Ashley and not the 100 Good Wishes Quilt. The quilt was definately the homey touch needed to complete her room.... It is ready to welcome her home!

Another View of Lillie's Room

Here are a few more pics of Lillie's room and the progress made. I finally got the top done (It's a small world) and the pictures on the wall. The 2 you see by her bed are both from Fuling ( I found them in pictures posted by other parents who have traveled to the area.) One is a Stick Stick Soldier and the other is women doing Tai Chi. The little mirror and the beautiful elephant pillow were chosen for her by her cousins Patricia and Clarissa...they are both from Pakistan via Switzerland. The Japanese figures are from my friend Allyson.
The other picture is another corner of her room. The wonderful rocker was given by Sydney Sampson and her family... a transfer from her playroom to Lillie's bedroom. The shelf is full of wonderful books and a few toys. I am sure we will add more as time gets closer to Lillie's arrival. The pretty pink blanket peeking out from the side of the picture is from Meg and Caroline...one that I am sure will be a favorite!
Just thought I would help give everyone a better "view"!

Lillie's Bedroom

Several of you have asked about Lillie's bedroom. It is still not complete, but here is a sneak peek! The walls are Lemon Chiffon...thanks to my brother, Erik! The picture on the wall is the alphabet...with each letter being a city from around the world! It was a gift from several dear friends at school. (My first "baby gift") The picture is what all other colors have been chosen to match. The black and white photos are from different countries around the world and the ribbons are to add some color. I decided an international theme was perfect for our little international family. There is still much to do, but at least everyone gets a chance to see the beginning of the transformation! I will post more pictures as the room progresses.

The Waiting Game

My home study is almost completed and the dossier information is almost completely gathered. The wait, however, is just beginning. In an attempt to keep my mind off the fact that my daughter is presently thousands of miles away, I have decided to start concentrating on her bedroom. Mom and dad are getting her bed and dresser from my Grandmother's house this week. Some of my friends from school already purchased a great peice of art for her walls (A large ABC canvas with each letter representing a city from around the world). Now it is time to choose the paint color and start the painting! I am hopeful that my brother Erik will help with making a color choice that will really compliment the room and picture. No matter what I do, however, it will not be complete until Lillie is in it!
