Fun with Wyatt

Lillie and Wyatt have really enjoyed getting to know each other and seem to play well together...(read: they don't take anything off of the other!) We had a great time at KIDS PLACE and finished the evening at Jason and Michelle's house. Lillie even gave Wyatt a kiss good-bye! You will have to check it out!

Our Appointment at Shriner's

Yesterday was our appointment at the Shriner's Hospital for Children in Lexington. We spent about 3 hours with the doctors and staff and they were all wonderful and great with Lillie. We had xrays done and I am thrilled to share that all of the bones in Lillie's leg are growning at the same rate, so there is no concern that one leg will be shorter than the other. They were also very impressed with the mobility she has and were confident that no surgeries were needed...hopefully ever! They said that for now they recommended a prosthetic called a "slipper"...essentially it will be a foot that will slide over her small foot and will allow her to wear the same size shoes and should improve her gait slightly. We met the prosthetist and were able to go ahead and make a cast of her small foot so that they can make her prosthetic. We will go back in a few weeks for them to try it out and make sure it fits correctly. Dr. Talwalker did say that as she gets older, there may be a time when a prosthetic that comes up higher will be helpful.
Thank you to everyone who has been praying for Lillie and have been so interested in her development! I am happy to report that it was definately a day full of good news!

Pictures by Cristy

Lillie and I had pictures taken by my sister-in-law Cristy. Here are a few of the first set. They were wonderful and I am so thankful that we have Cristy to be our official photographer. She works at Holifield and does a wonderful job!

Making new Friends

In the last few days, Lillie has met and made so many new friends! On Tuesday, we went to visit Campbell and her family (including her dog, Cloe...which Lillie made friends with also!) Then that evening, we had a visit from 2 of mommy's camp friends...Heather and Jay! They spent some time visiting with Lillie and I and started some very special friendships. Then on Wednesday, we went for a play date with Avah Claire. It was a great time..and we even had a surprise visit from Tishy! It was great to watch Lillie and Avah find their common likes...cell phones, purses and popcicles...to name a few! We also took "China Clothes to our friends Campbell and Avah! I have some great pictures of Lillie and Avah to share...and pictures of Avah in her new outfit! You can also see them on Avah's blog...http://www.avahclaire.blogspot.com

Lillie and her buddy Levi

Levi and Lillie were good friends at the SWI and were in several pictures together I recieved before we traveled to China. He is absolutely precious and we had the wonderful privilege of meeting Levi with his new family! His mom and dad and 2 brothers were in the same hotels we were in, so we had the chance to really get to know one another and to discover the many things the children had in common. When we returned, Levi's mom sent me pictures of the two that were on her disposable camera she sent to the SWI in a care package. (Yes, Levi is a little boy, although he rarely has on clothes that look "boyish". One of the first thing Levi's family said was that...although he does look fabulous in the color pink, they were excited to see him in other colors!) I think that meeting Levi's family was a gift from God and I hope that we continue to remain in touch. I beleive that for Lillie, Levi was the closest thing to a sibling she had!

Another Family Weekend!

This weekend we had a visit from my Aunt Judy, cousin Shana and her two children, Alexander and Mariel. We also had my Aunt Anna join us, plus my cousins Adam and Delena and their children, Matthew and Margarette...who is only 2 weeks old! My Aunt Pryntha also came to visit...so all 4 Alexander sisters were together! It was another wonderful time for Lillie to meet her family and she clearly enjoyed them. It is amazing to see how her comfort changes with each week! It was a wonderful time.

enjoy the pics at the end of the kids in their "China Clothes" as Alexander called them

Our visit with Dr. Taylor

Well, we survived our first "Post Adption" Dr.'s Appointment. We say Dr. Taylor, who specializes in international adoption and she and her staff were wonderful. It seems I have, as I imagined, quite a big girl. She weighs around 28 pounds and is 37 inches tall. By China's growth standards she is 95 percentile in weight and 97 percentile in height. By US standards she is 50 percentile in weight and90 in height...tall no matter what country. Other things seems to be good... we did a lot of blood work (she was a trouper!) and we are waiting for the results. Her TB test was good so no problems there. I am so thankful that Lillie did so well and that the appointment went well...especially considering that in order to do all they need to do and then get blood drawn, we were there for 3+ hours. Thanks to everyone who has asked how things went.

A Family Weekend

We had a wonderful visit this weekend with aunts, uncles and cousins...a great time for Lillie to be introduced to her family! She did great...meeting her cousins Allison and Alex first, then following up with time to play with her young cousins, dance with her Aunt Kristy, cousin Depp and cousin Caroline...even watch her cousins Miller, Sims and Tipton on their game boys! Her cousin Ashie gave her some new chapstick and her Aunt Zara and Uncle Bud gave her a backpack that she still is pulling everywhere she goes! She also loved the chance to sem with the Boys and Caroline at the hotel pool! We had a wonderful time..and Lillie even left mommy's side for a few minutes to let others hold her and play with her! She even siad good bye with kisses for Depp! It was so nice to have the chance to visit and I am so thankful that Lillie realized how fabulous her family is from the very beginning!

A Play date with Wyatt!

We had our first real play date with Wyatt on Thursday! It started off with Lillie being a bit possessive of her toys, but after a little while (and with some minor intervention) they were taking turns and playing together...or at least near one another. They even shared cookies, and cheerios and water and....well, you get the picture. It was a wonderful start to a long and beautiful friendship!

Play time with Pop pop

Lillie had a wonderful weekend with family...which included spending more time with Nai Nai and Pop-Pop! It may have taken a little time to warm up, but Lillie and her grandfather are now really getting to know one another. I guess I am not my dad's only "princess" anymore...and am so thankful that time and proximity continue to help grow their relationship!
